Bandar Jugra - Historical Town and Former Royal Town

Bandar Jugra is a historical town and former royal town in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is located near Banting in the district of Kuala Langat in Selangor. HOneslt, my fathers work here. Did you believe with that?

Banting and Jugra was HERE!

Among places of interest in this quaint town are royal palaces such as Istana Bandar and Istana Jugra, Makam Sultan Abdul Samad, a royal mausoleum, and mosques such as Masjid Alaeddin. I already come and visit this masjid before. Its really cool mosque! If you don’t believe, just come and see first!

Jugra was the royal capital of Selangor when the then ruling monarch, Sultan Abdul Samad built Istana Jugra (Jugra Palace) and moved there in 1875. It was situated in a strategic location, not exactly at the river mouth but easily accessible from the Straits of Malacca, and protected by a hill, Bukit Jugra; which stands clearly out above the low-lying mangrove swamps. For centuries it served as a familiar landmark to navigators of the Straits of Malacca. Chinese, Arab and European mariners marked it in their charts; Bukit Jugra was also known to many foreign navigators as Parcelar Hill, derived from the Arabic name for it, balasar.

It was during this time that Jugra also briefly became the centre of British administration in Selangor, although this was soon moved to Klang, and a decade later to Kuala Lumpur. The Sultan continued to live at Jugra until he died in 1898, and the new Sultan, Sultan Alauddin Sulaiman Shah also known as Sultan Sulaiman was proclaimed there. This was the last important occasion in Jugra.

After that, Jugra quickly shrank to become a backwater, as even the local administration was shifted to the new centre of Banting and Sultan Sulaiman made his official residence at Klang.

Anyway, Jugra become famous before because of many incident and situation. IUntil today, we proud about Jugra history. If you come to banting, i will said you need to come to Jugra and Masjid Alauddin. if not, you miss something.

Want to come to banting? If you from others country, after you landing at KLIA, you just need to take taxi and its take 40 minutes to 1 hour to reach Jugra. But it take 30-40 minutes to reach Banting if you drive you car like crazy. Huh!

Banting and Spicy Kerepek

Banting is a principal town in the district of Kuala Langat, Selangor in Malaysia. Banting has a population of 48,240. It is situated on the banks of Langat River (Sungai Langat in Malay). It was probably also known as Rest Town or Bandar Persinggahan of Federal route 5. The historical Bandar Jugra, a former royal town of Selangor is situated near Banting. Its popular for small scale industry product like kerepek and belacan. So, did you love to eat belacan and kerepek? I love to eat spicy kerepek!

Banting is my best town!

Ok. I think its enough for you to know about Banting for this short details. I just believe not all of you know about Banting. Banting is my town and i believe that will be my partner town too. Maybe its too early.

So, wait for my next and next entry about my beloved place and my best place in this world. Maybe you not feel it. But its enough for me to feel it. Believe it or not. Banting are wonderful town and best place to eat!
